Another Sunday...

Another Challenge!! I have to say, being on the corrosive challenge design team is really fun...first it makes me create cards that I would never have thought of making...and second it forces me to post on the weekend, which I don't usually do.
So this weeks challenge on Janet's blog was to create a card using your country's flag colours....well I do agree with Janet that our county rocks...but... I have to say it was pretty tough to make a card using only red and white...I tend to like at least 3 colours and white doesn't count!!

So here she is...EmmyBella...I used the CB swiss dots folder to give the background texture and added the 6 poppy red glitter dots. Emmybella's pants and shirt are paper pieced with SU's real red textured c/s and real red DSP. I used my quickcuts nesting ovals for the image and sentiment. The ribbon is 5/8" red grosgrain and a simple knot adhered with a glue dot.
Check out the corrosive challenge blog for more inspiring ideas and come play along.

First Day of Summer Holidays...

thankfully the weather is nice and the kids will spend the day in the pool at my Mom's!! I snuck away to run some errands and quickly post the card I promised yesterday.

I also promise to change the music really soon...I am sooooo not into Alice Cooper...but seriously the song is just perfect!

So here is the card I made for the kids music teacher...it is also my submission for Bellariffic Fridays (make sure you go check out the awesome submissions...). The challenge this week was a sketch...loooove doing those, it makes card making soooo easy!!

I used rockabella for this one, coloured her in to match the MME Laundry Line paper. The background layers are Regal rose and soft sky( retired) from SU. I added some crystal effects to the guitar to make it shiny but it made the rose red colour look really orangey (is that a word??)...Didn't love that but I had no time to redo it so it stayed. A few platinum glitter dots to add some bling and the card was done

Thanks for looking...enjoy the first weekend of summer holidays (if you have kids)...I bet I get the "I'm bored" before the end of the weekend...LOL

This is it....

Last Day of school...the kids are sooooo excited!!! You'll be happy to know I finished all my teacher cards...I just forgot to take pictures of the last two layouts so you'll just have to take my word that they looked good (I'm patting myself on the back!!!)

This card is one I made for the school librarian...she also teaches the kids computers. I used bookwormabella for her last year so this year I decided to use Reading Reverie...I hope Em comes up with a new reading/book themed stamp before the end of the next school year...LOL.
I used Tangerine Tango (almost retired) ,So Saffron and certainly celery from SU for the backgrounds and a small scrap of patterned paper (from somewhere). The oyster Baubles are from Stamping Bella and the bow at the top is so saffron (SU sab ribbon).

Come back tomorrow and check out the card I made for the music teacher...

It's Sunday...

Yes I know it is father's day...but it is also the weekly challenge for the Corrosive Challenge Blog. This weeks challenge is to make a card with a different kind of fold...pretty simple and lots of samples available...so come play along!!!

I made this card for the challenge this week...I used Rumour has it (spelled the American way) from Stamping Bella and some SU DSP (retired). The layers all coordinate with the colours in the DSP and I coloured my girls to match...

Thanks for looking...Have a great Sunday

Half way there...

So you know the Bon Jovi song Livin' on a Prayer...it is stuck in my head today (that is why I chose it for the song on my blog today...hee hee..). I love Bon Jovi and could probably come up with a song for pretty much anything...

Anyway, I'm half way to having my teacher thank you's done...Yay me!!

I made this card (actually 12 of them) last night...I was just playing with scraps and this is the layout I ended up with...I like it, I'll have to use it again someday...but first I still have 22 more teacher cards to make.

Same stamp as the other day (teachabella) but this time I used a different plaid paper (can you tell I like plaids...GRIN). This one is from We R Memory Keepers...picked it up at Michaels of all places... I used SU's Groovy Guava (retired), Apricot Appeal and Bashful blue for my assorted layers. I tied a knot of blue satin ribbon around the plaid piece and added 3 apricot baubles at the bottom of the card.

Gotta go now...22 more cards to make...YIKES!!!

No more teachers...

well almost...Thankfully the kids are done with spelling tests and homework...they get to coast for the last few days of school...but not me!!!

I've decided that the gift for the teachers is Thank you cards this year. I made them for Jessie's teacher last year (she LOVED them). Jordan has the same teacher so I figure I can't go wrong. Sooooo this decision being made, I now have to make 44 thank you cards between two teachers...AND I have to get them done by the end of the week so they will have them to write their thank you's to all the kids in their classes.

Of course Teachabella is the image of choice...it couldn't be more perfect!! I coloured the image to match the patterned paper (MME) I used and added 3 watermelon baubles for accessories at the top (it was looking a little empty in that corner)

I have 10 done (last night) using this layout, I'll pick a new layout for my ones tonight.

Thanks for looking

Corrosive Challenge #16...

And challenge #2 for me!! This week on Janet's challenge blog we are doing a sketch...

So here is my take on the sketch Janet posted for the challenge...

I used the daisy High tops from stamping bella and assorted papers for the background. I punched out a circle and added the bow...the sentiment (which I love) is also from Stamping Bella. the image itself is layered on SU's Soft Sky (retired) cut out using the Quickcutz label die.

Go check out the blog and give the challenge a try...I'd love to see what YOU do with it...and you could win a Ketto stamp from stamping Bella (you know we love those!!) and some ribbon just for playing.

Happy Birthday Karen!!!!

Pretend I'm singing the song....but really, just pretend 'cause my singing sucks!!
Today is my good friend Karen's bday (so make sure you wish her a happy birthday)...she is far far away in Boston...but a bunch of us are thinking of her today...This is the card I made for her, you can tell it's for her 'cause no one loves pink and brown as much as she does!!!!

I used giftabella for the image and the sentiment inside reads "Birthdays are natures way of telling us to eat more cake" good one eh?? So Karen, since you are seeing this...your card is truly in the mail...but it won't be on time...how do I know this you ask...wellllll I mailed it yesterday. So this is my card for Karen...now hop over to Dana's, Janet's and Joanne's blogs and check out the cards they made (and probably mailed on time...) for Karen.

This pic is the most recent one I have....Karen is beside me, 2nd from the right...(then Dana, Janet, and Leslie in front)

YAY Karen, have an AWESOME day!!!

P.s. I scheduled this to post for 6am this morning...it didn't work :o(

So, it is Bellariffic Fridays...and another sketch challenge I mangaged to complete..woo hoo...are you cheering for me??!!

I used Fabby, I think she is one of my all time favourite Bella stamps...although that list really is quite long...GRIN!!

I coloured her in to match the paper from We R Memory Keepers - Precious Metal. I added some SU old olive and tangerine tango for layering and some Crackle orange dots for embellishment...I think I'll keep this one for my friend Dana's bday...they are totally her colours!!

Come back and visit tomorrow...I have another post ready to go!!

Corrosive Challenge Blog....

I'm on the design team!! For the next 3 months I will be designing for Janet's Corrosive Challenge Blog. A new challenge is posted every Sunday and you have until the following Saturday send in your submission...so why not come Play with us!!

This Sunday's challenge was a Father's Day/Masculine card...I opted for the masculine 'cause my kids will be making their own cards for Daddy.

I used Golfafella from Stamping bella and watercoloured using my SU inks. The sentiment is also from Stamping Bella and I used the splatter stamp from SU's Itty Bitty Backgrounds on the Mellow Moss and stamped the sentiment in chocolate chip. The small chocolate dots at the bottom and top left are Scribbles 3 dimensional fabric paint...it works great on paper too!!
I'm not sure who will get this card...I don't know a single guy that golfs!
Have a great day!!!

8 Days a Week...

I grew up listening to the Beatles (my older brother loved them). 8 Days a Week used to be one of my favourites...I've also decided that I need 8 days in a week so things wouldn't be as hectic...that 8th day would be my day to stamp since the others are all used up with other things!!

Once again, a crazy week with no time for anything...I did one submission...bellariffic Fridays of course!! The challenge this week was a sketch that Karen came up with...I pulled the card together in about 10 minutes + another 10 to colour the image...that was it for my week of stamping....20 minutes.

I used Rumor has it girl and coloured in with copics (time was a factor). I used Parisian Breeze DSP (retired) from Stampin Up! and followed the sketch for layout. I stamped the sentiment (included with the stamp) on piece of so saffron ribbon and added a couple of punched flowers. Other than the oyster bauble in the middle of the flower, there are no other embellishments...nice and simple!!

Thanks for looking, have a great weekend!!
